Many people in the country are waiting for Ford to restart its operations in India. The automaker was said to start production again in the country, but only for exports. Now, a latest report suggests, the brand has again went in the re-thinking stage for entering India. 

According to industry sources, Ford has been forced to rethink its plans for restructuring the Tamil Nadu plant due to the policies adopted by US President Donal Trump. Moreover, the report also suggests that some top executives of the brand will meet to discuss the future of the Tamil Nadu plant. The discussion will shed some light on whether Ford will commence its operation or just write off its investment.

Commenting on this, a Ford’s spokesperson said “We have been in regular conversation with representatives from the Tamil Nadu government and we appreciate their support. Further information about the type of manufacturing and other details will be disclosed in due course.”

The American automaker stopped its manufacturing operations at its Maraimalai Nagar plant near Chennai in mid-2022. Some months before, it planned to restart its operations at the same plant, but only for exports. However, now it seems its restructuring might cause some delay or even get cancelled.

That said, at the current stance it is highly unpredictable about Ford’s upcoming moves for India. On one hand, Indian auto enthusiasts are waiting to compare the new Indian Everest with Toyota Fortuner, while on the other, the automaker is crunched with its home politics.
