Top 7 SUVs In India – 7. Hyundai Venue

In the 7th position, we have the most affordable Hyundai SUV – the Venue. In September 2025, Hyundai managed to sell 11,484 units of the Venue. This might not sound astonishing – considering the standards set by the Creta. However, it is worth noting that this is one of the best figures ahead of the launch of its facelift model. That said, priced between Rs 8.53 lakh & Rs 14.71 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) – the Venue offers features like ADAS, sunroof, automatic LED headlamps, BOSE sound system and more. Also, it comes equipped with three engine options – 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, 1.2-litre NA petrol engine & 1.5-litre diesel engine.

6. Mahindra Thar

The 6th position is secured by one of the most popular SUVs – the Mahindra Thar. In the previous month, Mahindra sold as many as 11,846 units of the Thar nameplate. Note that these are combined sales figures of both – Thar 3-door & Thar Roxx. That said, we firmly believe that Roxx has made a major contribution to the sales. The Roxx, compared to the 3-door model, is a more practical SUV for accommodating 5 passengers. Also, it comes with features like panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, 10.25-inch touchscreen system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS and more! The engine options include – 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (174bhp & 380Nm) & 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp & 370Nm). Currently, the Thar Roxx is priced between Rs 14.73 lakh & Rs 26.92 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Top 7 SUVs In India – 5. Maruti Fronx

In the 5th spot, we have the Maruti Fronx – and the only SUV in today’s list. Talking of which, Maruti successfully sold 13,767 units of the Fronx in the last month. The Fronx is one of the stylish-looking Maruti SUVs that comes with a list of features like 360-degree camera, head-up display, 9.0-inch touchscreen system, ARKAMYS sound system and more. Also, it is the only Maruti to come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (99bhp & 148Nm). Having said that, the Fronx is currently priced between Rs 7.97 lakh & Rs 14.03 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

4. Tata Punch

The SUV to secure the title for the 4th best-selling SUV is the Tata Punch. In September 2025, Tata Motors managed to sell 15,891 units of its most affordable SUV. Also, the mentioned figure is a combination of the Punch petrol & Punch.ev. The Punch has always been a hit product for the brand. And now, after the GST cut, the popularity has grown further amongst buyers. Among both, the Punch.ev is the most feature-loaded SUV. However, the petrol model will come at par with the upcoming facelift. So, if you are interested in buying EV, go for it! But if you are interested in buying a petrol model, you can wait for a month as the launch of the Punch facelift isn’t too far.

Top 7 SUVs In India – 3. Mahindra Scorpio

So here we enter the top 3 list with the Mahindra Scorpio! A nameplate that has ruled the Indian car market for 2 decades. Currently, we have two versions of the SUV – the Scorpio N & the Classic. In September 2025, both these SUVs contributed to an impressive sale of 18,372 units. The Classic is basically a polished version of the pre-facelift model. On the other hand, the Scorpio N is an all-new model that comes with the latest technology offered by Mahindra. Currently, the Classic is priced between Rs 15.85 lakh & Rs 20.33 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), and the N model is priced between Rs 15.85 lakh & Rs 29.46 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

2. Hyundai Creta

In the 2nd position, we have the king of Indian SUVs – the Hyundai Creta. In 2025, the Creta consistently ranked in the top 2 positions on the sales chart. The previous month was also another best month for Hyundai as the brand was able to sell 18,861 units of the Creta. And yes, this is the highest monthly sale for Creta – ever since it was launched. Buyers prefer Creta for its reliability, comfortable ride quality, refined engines, low maintenance, and advanced features & technology. So, even with so many positive aspects and creating a record sale in the history of Hyundai, why did it finish in the 2nd position?

Well, the reason is – Tata Nexon. The only SUV that is capable of overshadowing the popularity of the Hyundai Creta. With its strong build quality, multiple engine options, premium cabin experience, plush ride quality & modern design, the Nexon made a historic sale of 22,573 units. It is not only the highest for any Tata car but also a remarkable achievement, especially considering the strong criticism it faced. The GST 2.0 & the discount offer from Tata Motors have likely helped Nexon to post such an impressive sale. That said, the SUV is currently priced in India between Rs 8.44 lakh & Rs 16.61 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
