Now, rumours are suggesting that the brand is yet again gearing up for another affordable, yet powerful version of the Harrier!

Tata Harrier Petrol Launch

Currently, the Tata Harrier is available with two powertrain options – diesel and EV. However, launching the model with a petrol engine has been in discussion for the last couple of years. Even Tata officials have confirmed the launch of the Harrier & even the Safari for that matter, with a petrol engine. But when should we expect the launch? Well, some of the recent reports are suggesting that the brand will be launching both models with petrol engines in November 2025! However, it is important to note that there are no claims by any of the brand’s officials.

That said, the launches of these two SUVs could be a part of the upcoming Tata SUVs – Punch facelift, Sierra ICE & Sierra.ev – expected to be launched in the coming months. But, how does the Harrier petrol make it more affordable & powerful – as mentioned in the title?

Powerful & Affordable

Currently, Harrier is available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine (168bhp & 350Nm). Whereas in the EV version it produces a maximum of 309bhp & 504Nm – with the help of a dual motor setup. On the other hand, the SUV is said to come with a 1.5-litre, 4-cyl TGDi petrol engine producing 170bhp & 280Nm. It is the same unit that was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Also, the engine is expected to be paired with manual & DCA gearbox options. So in terms of performance, the petrol model should be at par or even better than the diesel.

But why cheaper? Currently, the Harrier diesel is priced between Rs 16.72 lakh & Rs 30.13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Once the petrol version is launched, the SUV is expected to get a price cut from anywhere between Rs 70,000 & Rs 1 lakh. Having said that, the Harrier petrol is expected to be priced from Rs 15.70 lakh or Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
