Toyota Sales September – How Did It Happen?

At present, car-showrooms in the country are flooded with customers coming for bookings and enquiry of reduced prices. While the other car makers are surpassing new sales heights, Toyota on the other hand has performed moderately even after the GST structure.
In the previous month, we have already seen car brands like Tata, Mahindra and Hyundai surpass the 50,000 and some even 55,000 sales mark, However, Toyota has registered a total sale of 27,089 units. The sales number of Toyota is lesser than its sales registered in August. This explains that Toyota has not made it the most despite the GST changes.

But Why Did It Happen?

Now, let’s simply look at some of the reasons why despite the GST push, Toyota was not able to put forth big numbers. One of the main reasons behind it is obviously, only a single car positioned under the small car segment. In GST 2.0, the cars that got a major push were in the small car category with length less than 4m along with a petrol engine (<1.2-litre) and Diesel engine (<1.5-litre). The only car that fits in this category from Toyota is the Glanza.
Now, many buyers choose to buy a Maruti Baleno instead of Toyota Glanza in the country. That said, even with the Glanza, Toyota was not able to push more. Apart from that, other cars in Toyota’s lineup include – Rumion, Hyryder, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Fortuner, Camry and LC300. All these cars have also seen price reduction but not to an extent of small cars.
This has been a major hinge behind why Toyota was unable to make out maximum in this overwhelming period. Apart from that, other manufacturers listed many discounts along with the price cuts making the final car price a sweet deal. However, there were no such mouth watering discounts offered by Toyota. These are some of the points why Toyota fell behind in sales compared to other car brands in September.
