India’s highway network is expanding and so are some basic common problems. One of the most basic ones that we come across many-a-times while travelling is the lack of public facilities. On highways, NHAI has built many restrooms, but some lack cleanliness.

But, how does this help? Well, reporting the dirty toilets can win you a free trip. How? To promote cleanliness on NHs, NHAI has come up with a new initiative where any commuter reporting any unhygienic or dirty toilets to the authorities will receive incentives for the same. And guess the incentive – Rs 1000 will be directly added to your FASTag, which you can utilise during your trips! This initiative is valid till 31 October 2025 across all NHs.

However, everything doesn’t come so easily, right? In this case too, there are some rules announced by NHAI for the commuters! Firstly all the reporting images should be clicked and shared via RajmargYatra app. Other rules that you need to know are

  • The rewards are only applicable if the toilets reported are constructed, operated and maintained by NHAI only. If the photo resembles any other restrooms operated by a third party, then you might not be eligible to earn the reward.
  • Each registration number is eligible for one reward of Rs 1,000 for the entire duration of the scheme regardless of the number of approved reports.
  •  If multiple users report the same toilet, only the first user to report will be rewarded.
  • The images shared should not be manipulated or duplicated, if done so, it will be rejected.

NHAI will use its AI-assisted software for verifying the details reported and images, followed by a manual verification to make sure the reward is disbursed in a fair manner.
