BYD eMax 7 Review – Is It Worth Buying?

Buying a 7-seater car in the country has become troublesome due to several options available. We mostly ignore an electric car – for our long touring needs, but sometimes it can be one of the best choices. So, is the BYD eMax 7 a good choice to become a wholesome family car? Let’s discuss its pros and cons.

Pros –

Features –

BYDs are feature packed, that’s what we have already seen in its flagship models like Seal and Sealion. However the same doesn’t go with eMax 7, it is not loaded with every feature, but offers the most needed ones even in its second row – some to mention are rear AC vents, Type C charging slot and rear sun shades.

Comfort –

While we travel the utmost thing we look for is the comfort offered. The models also offer superior comfort on the go, the seats are not too hard – offers better leg-room and head-room so you can travel without any hassle.

Suspension –

Suspension in the city works very well, it isn’t hard – we also sat in the second row to see how it works and it worked like magic. So, short puddles on the roads – they are just a myth in this 7-seater.

Quality –

Being one of the affordable of its pack, the BYD eMax 7 still feels quite premium. There are plenty of soft touch materials and high quality plastics used.

AC Performance –

Why have we listed the AC performance differently? There’s a reason – it’s chilling, or we can say very chilling in the second row too.

Range –

Being an electric vehicle the first thing that comes to our mind is how far will it go? But to our surprise, the BYD eMax-7 delivers a range of 500+ kms, which is near to its claimed range of 530 km.

Performance –

While some affordable 7-seater MPVs lack the punch of driving, this electric 7-seater runs very well. It delivers ample power and torque offering you a packed performance in city as well as on highways. The reason is ‘it’s electric’.

Cons –

Bouncy and Body Roll –

In the second row, the MPV is quite bouncy on even straight roads. You can feel the car moving and it can disturb you while travelling.

3rd Row Comfort –

While we felt better sitting in the second row, the third-row is not that comfortable. One might feel cramped sitting in the last row. Moreover, if the third row is opened the model also lacks boot space as it has a very limited space with all seats up.

Lack Of Service Centre –

Now we have seen everything through the lens of a second-seat passenger. But, there’s one very general point that needs to be mentioned from the lens of ownership, and that’s the lack of service centres. This thing can hamper your overall ownership experience, if not planned at the initial stage.
